Bridge over Enel canal
Total collapse of a municipal bridge over the Enel hydroelectric canal near Pallanzeno (Verbania, Piemonte) on 6 November 2020, triggered by the transit of a heavily loaded truck transporting cleaning material for the Rio Valmaggia. The structure may have been weakened by the October 2020 flood. The truck remained suspended on the collapsed bridge overnight; the driver was unharmed. Enel, owner of the canal, undertook reconstruction of a new permanent bridge inaugurated in 2024.
