Bridge over SS5

Total collapse of a cycle-pedestrian overpass over the SS5 Via Tiburtina near Rome (Lazio) on 26 September 2013, caused by the impact of a heavy goods vehicle with an oversized load that struck the underside of the bridge while travelling on the road below. No fatalities or injuries were reported as the bridge was unoccupied at the time. The event prompted closure of the Via Tiburtina and structural assessment of adjacent structures.
