Bridge over SS3

Total collapse of a cycle-pedestrian bridge over the SS3 Via Flaminia national road near Rome (Lazio) on 24 July 2014, caused by the impact of a heavy goods vehicle with an oversized load that struck the underside of the bridge while travelling on the road below. No fatalities or injuries were reported as the bridge was unoccupied at the time. The collapse interrupted the SS3 Via Flaminia and prompted closure for structural assessment of similar structures in the area.
