Viadotto Navicelli (FI-PI-LI)

Partial collapse (mechanical failure) of the movable lifting span of the Viadotto Navicelli on the FI-PI-LI expressway at Calambrone (Pisa/Livorno border) on 6 March 2026, caused by the sudden failure of one of the two steel hinges of the lifting mechanism. No hydraulic cause and no casualties (road and canal traffic were both interrupted for a routine lift at the time). Distinct from the 23 April 2014 event on the same bridge (B14.04.01). Project dates to 1990 (Italia '90 investment plan), tested/commissioned in 2004.
